Along with innovative product solutions, education and safety have become bedrocks of the company’s mission. “A defining moment for the company was its decision to invest heavily in conveyor education and training,” said Martin Engineering Chairman Ed Peterson. This commitment resulted from a sense of responsibility for raising levels of performance and safety across all bulk handling industries.”

Martin Engineering's success can be attributed to the development of practical, field-proven, cost-effective answers for “real life” problems.  All products are designed for tough industrial conditions, built to allow easy maintenance and engineered for simplicity, cleanliness, safety and efficiency.  Material handling solutions are personalized to meet each customer's unique requirements.

Regardless of the market, Peterson says the most critical factor is the company’s commitment to dependable equipment and service. “Our proven reputation for supplying heavy-duty products that withstand the rigors of the coal handling environment, along with our absolutely-no-excuses guarantee, has fostered that growth,” he added.

Bulk material handling across all industries, from biomass to aggregate, face similar obstacles that need to be overcome. “We are literally reinventing conveyor technology from the ground up, revisiting every facet of component and system design with fugitive material control, safety and ease of service as primary criteria,” explained Peterson.

Martin Engineering’s corporate headquarters in Neponset, IL (USA) is a 130,000 square foot (12,126 m2) facility, including 109,000 square feet (10,077 m2) of manufacturing space, 19,000 square feet (1,765 m2) of office space and a 2,000 square foot (186 m2) training center.

Internal manufacturing operations include the latest NC and CNC machining, stamping, punching and forming machinery, welding and flame cutting operations, urethane molding operations, painting, assembly and packaging operations, as well as a comprehensive tool and die department.  Martin Engineering routinely machines and fabricates a variety of materials, including ductile and gray iron, mild and stainless steel and aluminum, as well as steel and aluminum castings and molded polyurethane and plastics.

Martin Engineering's Center for Bulk Materials Handling Innovation adds an additional 22,630 square feet (2100 m2) of R&D space at the company’s Neponset campus.  The building houses laboratories for Environmental, Metals, Polymers and Bulk Materials research, as well as test areas for conveyor products, air cannons and engineered vibration.
